Introduction

A digital destination that activates and connects fans.

Martin Garrix, the world renowned Dutch DJ and producer, wanted to offer his global fanbase a unique experience surrounding the release of the official UEFA Euro anthem ‘We Are The People’ (featuring Bono). Collaborating with his record label, Sony Music Entertainment, the artist sought an interactive and personalized way to bridge the gap between football and music communities.

We developed the 'Artist Dream Team' experience: an innovative digital hub that translated the global passion for both worlds into an active community experience.

The challenge

How do you transform a single track release into an interactive digital destination where fans from across the globe keep returning?

The challenge for livewall was to build a digital experience that felt deeply personal yet held massive viral potential.

The platform's architecture needed to encourage music lovers and football enthusiasts to showcase their loyalty, share custom content on social media, and directly engage with Martin Garrix’s catalog on Spotify.

The concept

We created the 'Artist Dream Team' experience for Martin Garrix, a captivating digital lineup builder based on the mechanics of Fantasy Football. Bringing the electric atmosphere of a football stadium straight to the user’s screen, this online hub allowed fans to build their ultimate music squad. To maximize the buzz and ensure a global rollout, the concept relied on two strategic elements:

Artist Dream Team (Personalization & Conversion)

After connecting their Spotify accounts, fans built a personalized football lineup featuring their favorite artists. Naturally, Martin Garrix was locked in as the permanent team captain. Through this seamless Spotify API integration, users automatically followed Martin Garrix and the new Euro anthem, driving an immediate spike in streams and followers. The ultimate campaign motto? Music Unites!

Share-Card Feature (Gamification & Social Share)

To fuel the campaign's organic reach, users could upload their own photo to the tactical lineup. The platform then generated a highly shareable, customized 'Dream Team card'. Fans were prompted to download their creation and share it across their social media networks, turning the campaign into a viral sensation within online music circles.

Making it work

To turn the Artist Dream Team into a worldwide phenomenon, the campaign launched simultaneously in 14 countries. livewall designed tailored social assets and visuals in multiple languages for platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. Thanks to the frictionless Spotify API connection, a fun user interaction double-hatted as a powerful conversion tool.

To bridge the gap between the digital and physical worlds, the visuals were upscaled for massive OOH (Out-of-Home) displays: ranging from the four giant screens towering over the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome to prominent urban locations in Utrecht, Eindhoven, The Hague, and Rotterdam.

Results

The launch of the Artist Dream Team campaign triggered an explosion of engagement among music and football fans globally. The website attracted over 90,000 unique visitors, with users selecting around 350,000 artists on Spotify to complete their custom lineups. The share-card feature successfully generated an immense wave of organic social media activity and a massive streaming boost for Garrix.

This case perfectly illustrates how digital innovation, personalization, and a powerful cross media approach spanning from mobile screens to stadium sized billboards can bring fans closer to their idols.
